Common Household Mechanical Door Lock Grades

Grade A Mechanical Door Locks

Basic Characteristics:

Grade A locks are the most basic and commonly used type of mechanical door locks. They typically have a simple structure with relatively weak security protection. Most Grade A lock cylinders use a single-row pin structure with minimal variation in pin groove positions and depths, making them easy to unlock using technical methods.

Features:

- Simple Structure: Mostly single-row pin lock cylinders with a basic keyhole design.

- Low Security: Due to the simple lock cylinder structure, they can be easily opened with tools like foil picking, offering limited anti-theft protection.

- Affordable Price: Grade A locks are inexpensive and suitable for low-risk environments.

Common Applications:

- Interior door locks

- Basic home security needs

- Non-high-security locations

Grade B Mechanical Door Locks

Basic Characteristics:

Grade B locks offer improved security and complexity compared to Grade A locks. They typically use double-row pin lock cylinders, making them more difficult to pick. While their resistance to technical unlocking is enhanced, they can still be opened with specialized tools.

Features:

- Double-Row Pin Structure: Increases the difficulty of unlocking.

- Moderate Security: Provides better protection than Grade A locks but can still be compromised by skilled lock-picking tools (e.g., foil picking tools).

Common Applications:

- Main entrance locks in standard residential homes

- Security doors requiring moderate protection

Super B-Level (or Grade C) Mechanical Door Locks

Basic Characteristics:

Super B-level (also known as Grade C) locks are the highest-security mechanical locks available on the market. These locks typically feature multi-row pin structures or disc-based mechanisms, sometimes combining both for maximum security. Depending on the manufacturer, this category may also be referred to as "Grade C locks."

Features:

- Multi-Row Pin Structure: Often incorporates three-row pins or disc lock cylinders, making unauthorized unlocking extremely difficult.

- Strong Resistance to Technical Unlocking: Highly resistant to foil picking, bump keys, and other unlocking tools, typically requiring several hours for professional unlocking attempts.

- High Security: Excellent resistance against tampering and brute-force entry, reaching a level comparable to that of safes.

Common Applications:

- High-security residential homes

- Villas

- Office buildings requiring enhanced security

- Vault doors and high-value storage areas

Super Lock Cylinder

Basic Characteristics:

Super lock cylinders represent high-end, custom-engineered security solutions. They incorporate multiple protective technologies and offer security levels far beyond Grade B and Super B-level locks, nearing that of safe locks.

Features:

- Multi-Layer Protection: Highly complex lock cylinder structures that may integrate pins, discs, and magnetic mechanisms for enhanced security.

- Extremely Difficult to Unlock: Specialized tools are ineffective for quick technical unlocking.

Common Applications:

- High-end residential properties

- Confidential rooms

- Financial institutions and other locations requiring top-tier security

Choosing the right mechanical door lock depends on security needs:

- For standard residential use, Grade B locks offer a good balance of security and affordability.

- For higher security demands, Super B-level (Grade C) locks are recommended to enhance anti-theft capabilities.
